Wealth brings many new friends, but a poor man is deserted by his friend. Many seek the favor of a generous man, and everyone is a friend to a man who gives gifts. All a poor man's brothers hate him; how much more do his friends go far from him! He pursues them with words, but does not have them.

Proverbs 14.32

“The wicked is overthrown through his evildoing, but the righteous finds refuge in his death.”

This is a powerful statement about the temporary nature of the present world, and that beyond this world awaits eternal life with Christ for those who trust in him. Solomon observes that the wicked are ultimately destroyed by their evil deeds, whereas those who trust in God and live rightly find great solace and comfort in death, because death is simply the gateway to life everlasting.

"We are locked in a battle. This is not a friendly, gentlemen's discussion. It is a life and death conflict between the spiritual hosts of wickedness and those who claim the name of Christ. It is a conflict on the level of ideas between two fundamentally opposed views of truth and reality. It is a conflict on the level of actions between a complete moral perversion and chaos and God's absolutes. But do we really believe that we are in a life and death battle?”  (Francis Schaeffer)

Liberty Part 2

By Tim Kight on 7/5/18 1:30 AM

In the civil society, the individual has a duty to respect the unalienable rights of others. The individual also has a responsibility to respect the values, customs, and traditions, tried and tested over time and passed from one generation to the next, that establish society’s cultural identity. Citizens are responsible for taking ownership of their own well-being and that of their family, and they have a duty to contribute to the welfare of the community.

Pay Attention

By Tim Kight on 6/21/18 1:30 AM

One of the most important decisions you make every day is what to pay attention to. What should you focus on and what should you filter out? What deserves your attention and what does not? Answering this question is one of the primary purposes of the book of Proverbs. Wise people give their attention to the right things. Foolish people give their attention to the wrong things.

Peace | In Summary

By Tim Kight on 4/13/18 2:08 AM

2 Peter 1.2
May grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.”

As we finish this week’s series on peace, please keep in mind that the Lord seeks to “multiply” his grace and peace to us. He wants us to experience more and more of his grace and peace. The scripture above tells us that we will experience increasing levels of grace and peace in our lives through increasing knowledge of God in our lives. Please note: not knowledge about God, but knowledge of God

Peace | Part Four

By Tim Kight on 4/12/18 1:23 AM

It is very common for Christians to pray and ask God to give them peace. But if a Christian listens carefully (and reads the Bible diligently), the Lord responds by saying: "I have already given you peace. Now it is your responsibility to activate it." The evil one does not want you to activate and operate by the peace that God has given you. The enemy wants you to operate by the sin nature that still resides within you. Therefore, the evil one does everything he can to stimulate your sin nature. He does everything he can to disrupt you and disconnect you from God's peace.

Peace | Part Three

By Tim Kight on 4/11/18 2:00 AM

Everyone wants peace, but not everyone gets it. Paul says this in Philippians 4:7: "And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." The peace of God is not based on circumstances, so it doesn't always make sense to the unsaved mind; Paul says it is a peace that surpasses comprehension. It doesn't seem reasonable that such peace could exist in the midst of the problems and troubles that people go through. But this is divine, supernatural peace; it cannot be understood — let alone produced —  on a human level.
